L'Envol

1989, mixed media on canvas, 146 x 114 cm (compulsory format).
I created this painting "L'Envol" ("The Flight") on the occasion of the Bicentenary of the French Revolution. The exhibition, devoted to the theme "Humor and Revolution" was held throughout the summer of 1989 at the Palais du Festival de Cannes and continued in Géronne, Spain. The work was acquired by a Parisian lawyer.

The Flight 1989

In this painting by Chantal Dufour, a synthetic conception punctuated by the rhythm of an original graphic. The structure does not stifle spontaneity, it dominates it to better express its message. Its birds of always, proud of the lily or conquerors of a New World, trace on the white earth the parallel writing of their migrations without return. Both pass from yesterday to today, they come to life in an alphabet in which each ideogram is a perfect unit, surrounded and amplified by the overall syntax. And Human Rights, augural text of other hopes, soar towards an infinity of azure wings frozen in the white eternity of waiting.
